Will serve as the team leader for the both the high and low ropes course. The ideal candidate will have experience on a variety of ropes courses, and ropes course facilitation experience. Must hold up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications and complete a training class on our ropes course prior to the start of the position. The candidate should also have experience organizing, implementing and managing ropes course activities (team building, low, and high rope elements) and must be at least 21 years of age. The ropes courses will serve a residential camp during the summer months and host a variety of school groups in the fall.
Interns will report to the Director of Development and will involve assisting him in the planning, design, staging and implementation of a variety of outdoor adventure and experiential education programs. Interns can expect to be exposed to the entire range of our business including: staff training, program design, facilitation, resource management, office management, logistics and staff management.
(Day and Multi-Day Instructors) Staff hired at an entry-level position. New instructors are generally paired with Lead Instructors who are familiar with TMW’s style, program sites, and instructional techniques. New instructors also have the opportunity to participate in many valuable field-related trainings, many leading to a certification.
(Day & Multi-Day Instructors) Lead staff carry the responsibility of ensuring the safety and quality of a program. Promotion to the position of Lead Instructor comes when an individual is assessed as having the skills and experience necessary to assume full responsibility for a Mountain Workshop program. Program instructors are considered Lead when they have been with The Mountain Workshop for several years or have comparable technical, leadership, and facilitation skills from previous employment.
(Day Programs) The rock-climbing specialist will work Awesome Adventures day programs in CT and NY. The specialist must have the ability to set-up/take-down top-rope climbing sites, teach basic climbing skills and be able to safely manage a rock-climbing site. The rock specialist will participate in an AMGA certified top-rope course in the spring.
